Family Vacation

Last week the Ytreeide family, mom, dad and Derek, came out for a true Colorado vacation. We were able to take them to many of the things of the things that make Colorado so special:

-A Colorado Rockies game (THEY WON!!!)
-Several Colorado Microbreweries
-Breckenridge, where they able to experience the climate, beauty and elevation of the Rocky Mountains
-the Coors factory tour
-and spend time with the Colorado Harms' (us) and the Kings (my sister, Deidre, and her husband, Ryan)

We had an enjoyable trip. We able to do some hiking along the Continental Divide, where we watched a tractor remove snow from the road (still, in June, about 15' deep). After our hike, we explored one of the mountain lakes and the incredible river that fed it. We drove up the mountain on what could barely be considered a dirt road. We climbed rocks, and walked along the quickly rushing river - and we were the only ones there. We took time to enjoy the sunshine, the sound of the water and take some gorgeous family pictures.

The next day we explored Breckenridge, and got to sit and look out over the mountains and drink freshly brewed beer from the Breckenridge Brewery.

We took advantage of the sunshine, and rented a pontoon boat on Lake Dillon. While you can't swim in the lake (nor would you want to, as it is probably barely 35 degrees) it was fun to just take some time to relax on the water. We went into Frisco after that and cooled down with some ice cream, then made our way to the move theater to see Get Smart. While there, we also got to see Josh Holloway, or Sawyer from Lost. We tried to keep our excitement contained and let him and his wife enjoy a relxing day in the mountains, so we didn't talk to them. But Phil wanted to warn them not to waste the money seeing the new Indiana Jones movie.

On our way back to Denver on Sunday, we stopped and explored the Coors factory and got to sample (3, for free) some of their beers. Overall it was an enjoyable trip and so fun to show them a bit of our life here.
